High Definition Camcorder
By Ryboflavin
High Definition is the name of the game. So why not record it that way now too? High Definition Camcorders offer a unique way of storing precious memories on film in a way you've never seen them before. Some holding up to two hours of HD footage, High Definition Camcorders are the way of the future. This site is dedicated to trying to highlight some of the main differences in High Definition Camcorders.
Comparing High Definition Camcorders
There are a few different options out there and the best way to choose a good camcorder is to do your research. So... We decided to do some of it for you.
The most basic models of the High Definition Camcorders are the mini HD's, the family size HD's and then the professional models. Most people however can't afford a twenty thousand dollar professional High Definition Camcorder so we will just stick to the Mini's and the basic models.
When comparing different HD Camcorders it is important to remember that if you are looking for a high quality professional camera it can be thousands of dollars. If you have that kind of cash, great, but if not remember it will take a good credit score scale to get a line of credit for something like this. Hopefully you don't have to go that route and you are good enough at budgeting that you can make it work with your income. Either way be sure to check all of your options before you make a decision.
Mini High Definition Camcorders
The greatest part about the mini Camcorders is that they are extremely portable. They can fit in your pocket, bag, purse, whatever you carry and are very practical to catch that random funny moment or mishap on tape.
Some Pros to the mini include:
- Decent 720p HD video and audio
- Can hold two hours of footage
- User friendly
- AA batteries
- Cheap ($100-$500 range)
.... and cons:
- Hardly any features
- Doesn't stabilize image
- No zoom feature
- Can't use memory cards
Basic High Definition Camcorders
Some top brand names for High definition Cameras are: Sony, JVC, Panasonic, Sanyo, Canon, and Samsung. All have lower and higher end models, but it's up to you to decide which is the best choice for you. Based on Consumer Reviews the overall best HD Camcorder on the market right now is the Canon Vixia HF S10. Here are some specs on the camera to give you an idea of some things you should be looking for:
- Experts say the Canon Vixia HF S10 outshines the competition. It allows for a lot more control over shooting than some of the other high end High Definition camcorders out there. Footage is sharp and bright and the Canon HF S10 can store about three hours of really nice HD video on its 32 GB internal memory. There is also the option of storing it on memory cards.. The only downside to this camera is that the low-light performance isn't the greatest. It runs for about $1100.
Remember this is just based on consumer reviews and is subject to personal opinions and criteria. This is just a base to look at to see what other consumers found were desirable features in a camcorder. There are other cheaper models that have great features but just not as many. Stick to your budget and find what's right for you.
